Professional interaction management should strengthen, not erode, Service Desk credibility. Therefore, C is the statement that is NOT a benefit.
Effective interaction management provides a structured and consistent approach to customer contact. Customers should understand what is happening, what actions have been taken, what is expected from them, and what the next steps will be. This keeps customers informed and engaged. Consistency also contributes to a repeatable service because analysts follow established practices and communication principles instead of handling each interaction unpredictably.
Professional management can also improve satisfaction because customers generally value clear communication, ownership, appropriate empathy, realistic expectations, and consistent treatment even when an immediate technical resolution is not possible. These behaviours increase trust in both the analyst and the Service Desk. By contrast, credibility is eroded when interactions are poorly controlled—for example through contradictory information, weak ownership, unprofessional language, inappropriate expectations, or failure to communicate. SDA v9 places professional service excellence, communication, customer rapport, practices and procedures, and quality assurance at the centre of analyst performance.
